Our friends, the Sonoran Desert Toads (Bufo alvarius), have returned from beneath the Earth to fornicate and enjoy the Monsoon moisture! Out of respect for these glorious harbingers of Summer rains, CREAM has partnered with a local Herpetologist, Robert Anthony Villa, to help raise awareness about issues surrounding the use of Sonoran Desert Toad for its psychoactive secretions. A Portion of proceeds from this release will be donated to the Tucson herpetological Society.
"Apart from many preexisting threats, the Sonoran Desert Toad (aka Colorado River Toad) is a long-lived species that faces increasing pressure as a source of a powerful and potentially dangerous hallucinogen. Collectors can drive local extinctions and displacement of toads as part of the psychedelics renaissance. False narratives and cultural appropriation paint an incomplete picture of this hallucinogen as a ‘medicine’ or powerful tool to combat trauma. Please respect and protect wildlife."
