About the item:

The current shirt design for Benefit Honoring features the “Water Bird” rising from the holy water carrying our Sacred Medicine on his back. Kweeni, better known as Quanah Parker, was the leader responsible for much of the spread of our ways to the NAC. The use of the “Water Bird” in symbology and spirit is a unique Numunu (Comanche) addition to the ceremony coming during the time of Quanah. We honor traditional protocol for the Numunu (Comanche) culture as sun worshipers by opening the teepee door at sunrise to allow the first morning ray of the sun from the east to light the earthen crescent moon altar and show us the connection between the heavens and our ceremonial on the earth which is Archeoastronomy

To be in Right Relationship and promote spiritual growth, healing, and the connection to the divine by embracing traditional indigenous culture, can work towards a more just, equitable, and harmonious world for all. This image shows the adult male rising from below the water and bringing with him sacred life-giving water to our ceremony and the people. In life, a unique system of air cells allows the (Anhinga anhinga) to submerge its body below the surface of the water and then take flight, carrying the dripping water depicted in this design. Our ancestors witnessed this sight in nature and thus proclaimed this species to be the “Bringer of Water”. The water carrier in the ceremony represents the feminine and nurturing aspect of the divine symbolizing purification, renewal, and spiritual growth. We emphasize interconnectedness and kinship with all living beings and work to be in balance with our historic land. The Water Birds role is essential to the CNAC ceremony, ensuring the spiritual and physical well-being of participants while honoring our sacred life-ways.

Benefit Honoring is an indigenous-focused organization dedicated to brokering synergistic relationships between private, corporate, and philanthropic giving resources to support bio-cultural conservation traditions through a proven consultation process with a verifiable financial outcome. This term is an indigenous philosophical concept of reciprocity where a process of alliance building supports cultural restorative actions that strengthen the connection to Nature. This action creates resilience and supports mutual and beneficial relationships in our communities and the environment during these changes to our climate.
